Australian Government has announced significant increases of Visa Application Charges(VAC) affecting almost all visa categories. The new visa fees apply to applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026.
These are the main applicant Visa Application Charges (VACs) effective 1 July 2026.

Key Highlights
Student Visa (Subclass 500)
The standard Student Visa application fee has increased by 25%, from $2,000 to $2,500, making Australia one of the countries with the highest student visa application charges.
Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485)
Graduates will now pay $5,750, an increase of $1,150, when applying for post-study work rights.
Employer-Sponsored and Skilled Migration Visas
Applicants for the Skills in Demand (Subclass 482), Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186), Skilled Independent (Subclass 189), Skilled Nominated (Subclass 190), and Skilled Work Regional (Subclass 491) visas will also face higher government charges.
Partner Visas
Partner and Prospective Marriage visa applicants will now pay $11,710, representing one of the largest government visa fees in Australia.
Visitor & Working Holiday Visas
Even short-term visitors and working holiday makers will pay higher application charges from 1 July 2026.
