Exciting news for skilled migrants planning to live and work in New South Wales (NSW). In October 2025, the NSW Government has announced an interim allocation for 2025-26 Skilled Migration Program from Department of Home Affairs.
Interim Program Allocation
For the 2025-26 program year, the NSW government has set the following interim allocations:
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190): 200 places
- Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491): 180 places
The NSW Government has not received the full program allocation from the Department of Home Affairs for 2025-26 Skilled Migration Program.
Upcoming Invitation Rounds for Subclass 190
As invitation rounds for subclass 190 have opened, all applicants strongly encouraged to keep their EOI updated and provide valid supporting evidence for all claims in EOI.
NSW Priority Sectors for Skilled Migration
The NSW government continues to focus on attracting skilled professionals to fill workforce gaps and support key industries. The NSW Government has identified several the key sectors as priorities for the 2025-26 Skilled Migration Program, including:
- Construction
- Net Zero and Energy Transition
- Care and Support Economy
- Digital and Cyber
- Agriculture and Agrifood
- Advanced Manufacturing
Published NSW Skills Lists
NSW has now published NSW Skills Lists for 2025-26 program year. The lists are provided at the ANZSCO unit group level, with separate lists for:
- Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190)
- Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491)
All occupations within the identified unit groups are eligible for NSW nomination. Occupations not appearing on the NSW Skills Lists will not be considered for nomination.
