A Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) is required by international student to apply for a student visa to study in Australia.
A COE will normally be provided by the education provider (whether it is a school, college or university) within one week of receiving the signed letter of acceptance, the deposit payment and any other supporting documents stated in the Letter of Offer from the student. The COE is only sent out to the student if the education provider is satisfied with the student meets the genuine temporary entrant criteria and all the Australian regulatory requirements.
If you have been offered more than one course or a packaged course (such as an ELICOS, a Diploma and a Degree offer), you will receive a CoE for each course that you have been accepted. A deposit payment is usually required for every course that you have accepted and the course offer is conditional based on completion of the earlier course.
You must provide all CoEs to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) for the application of your student visa. If you have a current student visa, you must apply for a new student visa before your current visa expires. Your new visa must last the full duration of your next course of study.
If you change your course or course duration, you must inform the education provider where you are studying and a new COE is required to support your new study in Australia. Please note that issuing a new CoE to cover an increase course duration is not automatic and is subject to certain circumstances.
