Do you have an employer in Australia who would be willing to sponsor you through the Employer Nomination Scheme? Or have you already been working in Australia on a 457 – Temporary Work visa? If your answer is yes to any of these questions, you may be eligible to apply for an Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) visa.

The Employer Nomination Scheme is offered through Three Pathways for highly qualified Skilled Workers who would like to live and work in Australia as a Permanent Resident. Australian Study and Visa Services can explain which may be the right way for for you and how to apply to increase your chances of success through the appropriate stream depending on your situation:

  • The Temporary Residence Transition stream for Temporary Work (subclass 457) visa holders who have worked in their nominated occupation for two years with an employer who will offer them a permanent role.
  • The Direct Entry stream for applicants who have a) been nominated by the employer, b) applicants who have not worked in Australia, or c) who have only worked in Australia for a short period of time
  • The Agreement stream for applicants who are sponsored by an employer under a labour agreement

Upon approval of this visa, you will have Permanent Work rights and will be able to remain in Australia indefinitely.

PLEASE NOTE: Requirements for Subclass 186 visas have changed from 1 July 2017 with more further changes made from March 2018. If you have any concerns about the changes, please Contact Us
