Australia has introduced the Mobility Arrangement for Talented Early-professionals Scheme (MATES), providing Indian nationals the opportunity to live and work in Australia for up to two years.
Starting in December 2024, graduates and early-career professionals from India’s leading universities can participate in a pre-application ballot to apply for the Temporary Work (International Relations) (Subclass 403) visa.
Each year, 3,000 visa slots will be allocated through a fair and transparent ballot process. Successful applicants will also have the option to bring their dependents.
The MATES scheme strengthens the close ties between Australia and India, enabling Indian nationals to gain valuable work experience and contribute their expertise in Australia. It also supports Australian industries by connecting them with skilled graduates in high-demand fields.
Eligible fields of study include:
- Renewable energy
- Mining
- Engineering
- Information and communications technology
- Artificial intelligence
- Financial technology
- Agricultural technology
