On December 7, 2024, the Skills in Demand (SID) visa replaced the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa.
Skills in Demand Visa (Subclass 482) has three streams: Core Skills stream,
Specialist Skills stream and Labour Agreement stream. They all offer up to 4 years of
stay for the applicants. (Hong Kong passport holders may stay up to 5 years).
Additionally, family members may apply for a Subsequent Entrant stream to join the
primary (Subclass 482) visa holder in Australia. The visa processing fee is $3,115 for
all the corresponding streams.
Applicants are no longer required to provide two-year full-time work experience but
only need 1 year of full-time work experience in their nominated occupation or a
related field.
All TSS nominations and visa applications lodged before the implementation of the
SID visa will be processed using the requirements in force when the application
is lodged. If your employer has lodged a TSS nomination and you have not lodged
your associated TSS visa application before 7 December 2024, if the nomination is
approved, it will be deemed an SID nomination. You can lodge an associated
application for a SID visa. If you hold a TSS visa, see Temporary Skill Shortage
(Short-term) visa (subclass 482).
