Prospective Marriage visa
This visa is for an applicant who is living outside Australia and intends to enter Australia to marry his/her fiancé who is an Australian citizen, permanent resident or an eligible New Zealand citizen.
It is only valid for nine months from the date of the visa being granted, and it cannot be extended. The applicant must enter into Australia, be married within the nine months of the Prospective Marriage visa being granted. After the marriage, the applicant can apply for a partner visa onshore to live in Australia. Family members can be included in this visa application.
You must be at least 18 years old and have known and met your partner in person before making the visa application. You must be able to enter into a valid marriage under Australian law, and there must not be an impediment to marriage.
Your sponsor or your partner must be at least 18 years old and be an Australian citizen, permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen.
