Skilled Nominated (Permanent) visa
If you have not achieved sufficient points in the point-tested stream, you can consider applying for a state nomination to gain an extra 5 points towards your skilled permanent resident visa application. This is only possible if your nominated occupation is open for sponsorship in the state or territory to which you plan to apply to work and migrate.
Presently most nominated occupations are available in Northern Territory and Tasmania, but there are terms and conditions to be fulfilled to receive the respective state nomination. You may be eligible to apply for a Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190) once you have lodged an Expression of Interest (EOI) and have been invited to apply by a State or Territory Government agency.
This is a permanent resident visa for you to work in Australia through your qualifications and work experience deemed to be currently in demand within the Australian Labour Market. Visa Guidelines

- Lodging an effective and eligible EOI and being invited to apply
- Be nominated by a State or Territory Government
- Meet and hopefully exceed the passing mark in the skilled migration points test
- Be aged between 18 years old and 44 inclusive
- Obtain a Positive Skills Assessment in an occupation from the specific Australian state or territory government nominated Occupations List
- Have achieved a grade in English Language ‘Competent English’ or higher
- Have met important character and health requirements
- How your partner can contribute extra points to your application
- Criteria to be met by your secondary applicants
