The Visas for GPs program will be closing on September 16, 2023. As a result, employers of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) will no longer need to apply for a Health Workforce Certificate (HWC).
Starting from September 16, 2023, employers seeking to nominate IMGs in primary care positions in Australia will no longer have to include a HWC as part of their nomination application.
HR Plus will continue to accept HWC applications until September 5, 2023, and HWC Exemption applications until September 13, 2023. Any applications received prior to these dates will be processed according to the program guidelines.
The Department of Home Affairs will update their legislation, systems, and web pages by September 16, 2023, to reflect these changes.
